Kenneth Phil Hoover

Kenneth Phil Hoover, 90, of Mountain View, Oklahoma, passed away on January 6, 2023, at Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. Phil was born to J.S. (Sandy) and Ferol (Fullerton) Hoover on November 20, 1932, in Mountain View.

Growing up, Phil learned practical skills helping his grandfather, J.F. Hoover, around the farm. Phil attended Mountain View Public School, graduating in 1950. He married the love of his life, Mary (Herring) Hoover on June 15, 1952, south of Mountain View.

Phil furthered his education at SWSC in Weatherford, Oklahoma, earning his master's degree in mathematics and music education.

He began his teaching career in Cyril, Oklahoma, and later taught at Wakita, Carnegie and Mountain View. In addition to teaching, Phil partnered with his father in custom combining, trucking, farming and ranching. In 1965, he became a systems analyst for the Department of Defense at Ft. Sill, eventually transferring to Leavenworth, KS. Upon retirement, he worked for Armed Forces Insurance as an analyst. He returned to Mountain View in 1999, continuing his work with Armed Forces as a contractor. He also resumed teaching for two years to fill a void in the Mountain View School.

Phil was a faithful volunteer at First United Methodist Church, the Senior Center, and the Mountain View Museum. He will be dearly missed all who knew and loved him.

Phil is survived by his three children, Debra Carolyn Plooster and husband,d Nick; Mary Patricia Lack and husband, Johnny; and David Phil Hoover and wife, Linda; his brother-in-law, Deuane Frazier; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wif,e Mary; his parents, Sandy and Ferol; his grandson, Justin Hoover; his brothers, Glenn, J.D., and Frank; his sister, Betty; his nephew, Robert; and his niece, Judy (Hoover) Day.

Graveside service are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, in the Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain View, Oklahoma.

Visitation was from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Monday, January 9, 2023, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Mountain View, Oklahoma .
